
Miller played the leading role in Stephen Schwartz's 1972 Broadway musical "Pippin". It was directed by Tony Award winning director Diane Paulus, and also featuring Matthew James Thomas, Andrea Martin and Terrence Mann, "Pippin" received the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical at the 67th annual Tony Awards. Patina put her own contemporary take on the award-winning Benjamin Vereen's character and was able to master the Fosse movements that were so important to the show. Patina was awarded the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress playing leading Role within a Musical. She also won an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Actress in a Musical and also Drama League, Fred and Adele Astaire Award, and Broadway.com Audience Choice Award nominations for her performances. From December 2012 until January 2013, she was the Leading Player of the American Repertory Theater's production Pippin. Miller made her Broadway debut in the 2011 Broadway season as the gutsy nightclub-singer-turned-nun "Deloris Van Cartier" in the stage adaptation of "Sister Act", which earned her first Tony nomination, as well as Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for her performance.
